With Oriam unavailable, Caledonia Pride opted to play this rearranged fixture at the familiar venue of CSE. Unfortunately for me that’s a bit of a logistical nightmare as CSE is right in the middle of Edinburgh which means an expensive parking spot or taking the train and hauling all my gear up the hill to the venue. I opted for the latter which proved to be painfully challenging.
Personal fun aside, this turned out to be yet another incredible chapter in the early history of Caledonia Pride. Almost every player put in a performance at an incredible level to snatch a very unlikely victory by a solitary point. It would be unfair to single out any particular player for what was a team performance full of heart and determination not to lie down and accept defeat. I couldn’t help but feel an enormous sense of joy that those who have put an incredible amount of work into the Caledonia Pride project are starting to see a little reward for their efforts.
There is a long way to go no doubt but over the last few weeks things have started to turn and there is a real belief in everyone involved in Caledonia Pride. With a handful of matches remaining this season it will be interesting to see if Pride can build on this success to make a late surge for a Play-off spot. Regardless, it has been an incredible first season and I’m glad to have been on the rollercoaster.
