My final away trip of the year to see St Andrews University was the long Friday night trek to Paisley. I don’t actually mind it too much as I like the Lagoon Leisure Centre as a venue for shooting. They have lots of space around the court and spectator areas for working in plus the run-off behind the basket is big enough that I can safely throw down a remote.
This was my final opportunity to see Lauren Ness & Paige Onouye in action and in some ways it felt as though things have come full circle with basketball. Both girls were there when I first started photographing St Andrews University and it will feel a little odd without them going forward. To thank the girls for their contribution to my own work for the last four years I handed them a little parting champagne which may or may not have made it back to Fife.
As a bonus, St Andrews player Toni Carvill showed up to watch 0with her newborn daughter. I still haven’t been asked to do the baby photos though which is a huge surprise given all the fantastic shots I captured last year of mum on the court. I guess I’ll have to wait until she starts playing!
