A second successive day at King George V Park but this time for my first look at SWPL2 action. The league started last week and I had wanted to take a look at the new Edinburgh University Hutchison Vale team but I couldn’t make it along for kick-off. They were up at Buchan, North of Aberdeen this weekend so I went along to check out local team East Fife taking on Hearts on the same pitch as yesterday’s Leven United fixture.

Unlike yesterday where it was cold and then later very wet, today it was cold and windy with a lot of sunshine coming from one end of the pitch. That meant huge shutter speeds of around 1/3200 at ISO100 for the first time this year. That was fine in the first half with Hearts kicking towards me as they were dominating the game. The second half I planned to shoot more of East Fife but they were struggling to get over the half way line so I eventually swapped sides and tried shooting into the sun. Never the best idea but I was able to sit by the corner flag and shoot across the pitch which resulted in a few nice images.

The game itself wasn’t great quality because of the wind. Hearts won 1-0 with a nicely taken header. East Fife will continue to search for their first win of the season while Hearts have two on the board already. My next SWPL2 match is looking like being the middle of April as Edinburgh University Hutchison Vale take on Motherwell at Peffermill.
