With renewed discussion over the two amateur football associations in Fife being brought together I was intrigued by this opportunity to see two of the top teams from different associations play in the cup. Leven United are currently second in the Kingdom league while Auchtermuchty Bellevue lead the FAFa top division.

This was actually a fantastic game in the first half. Auchtermuchty twice took the lead in the first half but went in behind at the break. In the second half absolutely everything changed. The rain started lashing down, resulting in me scrambling to get the covers on my equipment at half time. Leven very quickly assumed full control of the play and scoreboard by accelerating into a 6-2 lead which eventually ended 9-2 hinting at a slight quality gap between the two leagues at present.

From a personal perspective I’m starting to feel a lot more comfortable shooting with the covers on. Thus far I’ve tried to avoid it where possible because it feels unnatural and awkward but I’m starting to get to grips with them. I still don’t like that it’s difficult to review shots through the big plastic window but it is something I’m learning to live with.
