The surprising scoreline of course meant that I was at the wrong end of the pitch for the second day in succession which unfortunately meant no celebration shots. Instead I feel compelled to talk about my new 11-24mm f/4L lens that arrived on Friday.
I’ve been looking to add a new lens to my bag since the start of the year and I eventually decided to gamble on the ultra wide angle as opposed to a safer telephoto zoom. Compared to the 16mm end of the 16-35mm that I already have, the 11mm end is ridiculously wide. It’s difficult to express in words just how much more it gets into the frame than the 16mm. I took it up to the Level 4 corner where I often take my pre-match stadium shots and I was stunned at just how much more stadium was in the frame. It’s going to take me a little time to get a handle of what exactly the lens is capable of but I’m already excited over what I’ve seen.
Outside of sports usage I can see me taking it out to do a little landscape work later in the year.
